Ahoy, pirates! Whether you’re a seasoned pirate or just getting your sea legs in Rare’s sandbox pirate adventure, there’s a wealth of pirate knowledge just waiting for you. As Sea of Thieves gears up for the launch of its first “season” worth of progression this Thursday, why not get these five six podcasts and YouTube channels queued up so you’ll be ready to plunder!
Keelhauled Podcast
Website / YouTube / Twitter / Apple Podcasts / Google Podcasts / Spotify / Patreon / Twitch
Captain Logun hosts the longest-running and currently only active Sea of Thieves podcast on the internet—the Keelhauled Podcast. Each week, Logun runs down the latest news about the game, talks lore, shares in-game stories, and chats with other players and streamers in the community. If you want a great way to stay up to date with the current state of the game or get more out of it, give Keelhauled a sub! (Note: I have been a guest on several episodes of the Keelhauled Podcast.)
Rare Thief
This is the YouTube companion channel to the Rare Thief website, which is an absolutely invaluable resource if you are serious about playing Sea of Thieves. The site includes guides on all of the game’s events and Tall Tale campaign voyages, along with an interactive map that will aid your progress in the game immensely. On their YouTube channel, they put together item, event and voyage guides that are a great accompaniment to the site and very concise and informative.
BoxyFresh
Sea of Thieves is a unique game in that it often leads to interesting player interactions that don’t necessarily end in one side winning and the other losing (although…there is that, too). BoxyFresh is a Twitch streamer that dedicates a lot of his time to Sea of Thieves, and his YouTube channel includes best plays and situations that he gets into. The FUNNIEST HOT MIC video below will give you a good idea of what to expect from Boxy, a goat owner who is unquestionably one of the most entertaining personalities currently streaming Sea of Thieves.
Captain Falcore
Captain Falcore’s channel was one of the earliest breakouts dedicated to the game on YouTube. His content encompasses a variety of themes from lore explorations to speculation on features/things coming to the game in the future, as well as replays of his Twitch streams. Falcore has also previously provided play-by-play commentary for official Rare-sanctioned events.
Hitbotc
Hitbotc is also a Twitch streamer that puts stream clip compliations and player guides up on his YouTube channel. His encounters on the seas are largely of the very positive and fun variety—like the below video where he helps a crew new to the seas complete their first Fort of the Damned. He posts update guide and strategy videos regularly that both new and experienced players can get something out of.
PhuzzyBond
I tried to keep the list to five but I don’t think I could have an complete list of the best/essential Sea of Thieves YouTube channels without also giving PhuzzyBond’s channel a shout too. His channel provides guides and Twitch gameplay highlight videos targeted at both beginner and expert players. For example, if you’re a struggling solo player who gets chased a lot (a very common problem in the game), Phuzzy’s video below is going to be a great help.
