If you grew up in the NES era, you have great memories of Contra. It is one of those definitive NES games that everyone played. My parents were going to some event one night and they pulled out a copy of Contra that then acted as a digital babysitter to my brother and I. What a great game. And no I could never finish it without using that 30-life trick and even then it was still hard.
In this episode of gaming/comedy podcast New Player Has Joined, hosts Keith and Jesse discuss this video game-ass video game and ask why the heck the game was called Contra in the first place. For those of us too young at the time to know much about the Iran-Contra Affair there’s even a little history lesson on that too.
